After working with the Red One and MX on numerous projects, we decided to take the Red Epic out for a spin a few weeks ago. After some early tests that proved pretty well, we decided to push the camera even further than we had in previous outings. This time, we headed off to Yosemite on a day that was below freezing. The camera handled everything wonderfully. The notorious rumors that Red cameras can't handle the great outdoors proved to be completely false - and the footage came out beautifully!
The camera itself is also a huge redo from the previous Red One's uncomfortable body and design (which I have war stories with during the shooting of One Shot). The Epic clocked in at a very comfortable ten pounds, seeming weightless to previous models.
