This last year we’ve been completely immersed in the sub culture of Stencil Graffiti. It started with books, just looking at the pictures and allowing some of the look and technique to stroll into the art direction we were doing with a few projects, but then it became an obsession.
If you’re not familiar with this style of art, Wikipedia has this to say about it:
"Stencil graffiti makes use of a paper, cardboard, or other media to create an image or text that is easily reproducible. The desired design is cut out of the selected medium and then the image is transferred to a surface through the use of spray paint or roll-on paint. The process of stencilling involves applying paint across a stencil to form an image on a surface below. Sometimes multiple layers of stencils are used on the same image to add colors or create the illusion of depth."
So, you’re probably wondering to yourself: “self, why are they telling me all this?” Well, to answer your thoughtful question we’re effin excited to unveil the first Stencil Graffiti Collection from Naissance. This first collection is called Karma and mixes our love of Eastern Religion and symbolism with the feel of modern urban art.
